A Tub for the Glamour girl

Italian designer Anika Elisabetta Luceri must’ve had this in mind when she designed a tub with tufted upholstered sidings. Yep this unique concept for a tub can go well with modern or traditional bathroom interiors. Bathroom interiors will now get instant glamour if placed with a tub like this.

The House of Tony Stark

After having seen the movies, Iron Man’s house is one beautifully designed haven. Although the aerial shots in the movies were just computer graphics, architecturally the house would have been amazing if it were real. Here are some artist renditions.

Lightforms using Mylar

Pretty ain’t it? Hard to believe that it’s just made of paper huh? Well, it’s made from mylar to be exact. Mylar is a kind of translucent film paper. The light fixtures in the picture were made by students at the Institute for Digital Fabrication at Ball State University using lasercut forms of mylar.

Furniture: A crafter’s dream

Designer: Helena Svensson (Sweden)
Material: Opti white glass and beech
Dimension: 1220x580x750mm

The first time I saw this table, I thought it’s perfect. I think when Helena designed this, she had an artist or a crafter in mind who’s no stranger to organizing. The drawers in this table are so compartmentalized that each material for your hobby can have its own segment and what’s best about it is that you wouldn’t have to open each separate drawer anymore just to find one specific thing.

I wish they’d reproduce it in candy colors. That way, this table would be irresistable.

These light fixtures reminded me too much of a honeycomb and of a wasp’s nest perhaps because it’s the designers’ source of inspiration. The Dragonfly.MGX Pendant Light is the collaborative work of designers, Jan Wertel and Gernot Oberfell for .MGX.

dragonfly_030510_01 Designer’s Description:

The Dragonfly.MGX pendant light draws inspiration from the curved honeycomb structure of insect eyes and their optical qualities. The fascination for us lies within its complex three dimensional array of photoreceptor cells or in this case light emitting cells.

Dragonfly.MGX is taking functional requirements like glare shielding and direct/indirect light into consideration. Therefore the skin is closed on the upper cells and gradually opens up towards the lower part to let more light pass through. It utilizes a standard size light bulb e.g. an energy saving bulb E27, thus making it a fully functional pendant light.

Dragonfly.MGX is made in Epoxy and is produced with 3D printing technology. This process becomes more and more interesting for mass production.
